Writing Advice for College Students

Sometimes the holiday season allows for opportunities to present students with enrichment lessons. The day before Thanksgiving is one of these opportunities. Below is an activity that could be used will all grade levels.
A more detailed explanation of the activity can be found in an earlier blog, “Excuse Me, Can You Cover an Art Class?
Some video clips can be use to introduce some of the activities, although they are necessary.
Watch the e:60 Unbreakable (15:52):

After watching the clip the student will create a Thanksgiving Turkey and Personal List of Thankful list.

  1. Hand each student a blank sheet of paper.
  2. On the board, trace your hand and make a turkey like you did in elementary school.  The students will trace their hand on their paper.
  3. Instruct the students to decorate the turkey. You also might ask them to list 4 people they are thankful for on each finger. Leave the thumb blank so it can be decorated.
  4. On the back, students are to create a list of 25 – 30 things they appreciate in life. It can be people, things, or activities.
