The following worksheet is included with our Write it Forward activity.

Letter of Appreciation: Write it Forward

In our society, we rarely acknowledge the important people and relationships in our lives. Days, weeks, months, years, and sometimes, even lives pass, without ever writing to the people who have positively impacted our lives. My psychology class has set a goal to write letters to important people in our lives. I have selected you.
The goal of this project is to see if one letter can inspire others to “write it forward.” Could you please take a few moments out to your busy day to write it a letter to a person you appreciate? A few kind words is all it takes. The only catch is you cannot send a letter to the person who sent you one. (A little like no taggsies back!) The requirements are:

  1. SNAIL mail or hand delivered. (No emails, text messages, tweets, etc.)
  2. Hand-written if possible. If you would prefer a computer that is fine, however if your handwriting is legible, please use this method.
  3. PLEASE RESPOND to our class once you receive a letter. My teacher’s email is youremail@yourschool.org. Our class is tracking the location and impact of our letters. If you could take a few moments to share your thoughts on the activity that would be AWESOME!
  4. PLEASE INCLUDE THIS SHEET WITH YOUR LETTER!

Original letter sent by (student name) from Your Town, USA to (person) on (date)

Continue as high as you would like. Our sheet is 2 sided with room for 32 letter! Check back to see how our activity goes.
