My Town Tutors is the nation’s 1st National Directory of teachers who tutor. Our goal in 2014 is to expand our network of local teachers who tutor to 1,000 teachers! In 2013 we had over 150,000 visitors to our site from all 50 states.

Over the next 56 weeks, @mytowntutorsNY will attempt to reach 5,000 followers. As of February 27, 2014, @mytowntutorsNY had just 34 followers. We are just getting the account organized and will share some ideas on how to attract quality followers.
In just 6 days, @mytowntutorsNY doubled its followers. On March 4, 2014 we had over 68 followers.
What are the key factors to doubling your followers?
1. Start with a low ratio. When @mytowntutorsNY started they had only 34 followers. As a result they only needed to add another 34 followers to reaching the impressive number of 68.
2. Know who your audience: Our audience is teachers and parents. All our tweets are geared to areas of interest for these groups.
3. Create good content. Our blogs, guest blogs, and tweets are all driven by creating good content for parents and teachers. We hope to provide useful information and resources. People will like this and follow. If our content is poor, we will not attract the interest we would like. We spend a great deal of time focusing on creating awesome content.
