In collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the Advancing Improvement in Education (AIE) Conference strives to connect leaders to inspire accountability, innovation, and possibility for school improvement through partnerships and research-based best practices. This year’s focus examines the how of our work in an effort to connect the what and why to advance improvement in education.
AIE originally started as a required conference for Priority School across Texas. This is the third year AIE has had open registration to all educators. Sessions this year will cover topics like school climate, academic performance, quality data to drive instruction, and more.
The Freedom Writer’s Diary

We are excited about the speaker line up this year at the AIE Conference in Austin, TX. The creator of the Freedom Writers Diary, Erin Gruwell is speaking at the opening of the event.
Inspired by Anne Frank, Gruwell and her students captured their collective journey in the diary. Through the student entries and Gruwell’s narrative text, the book records their “eye-opening, spirit-raising odyssey against intolerance and misunderstanding.” In early 2007, Teach with Your Heart, Gruwell’s powerful memoir and call to arms was published.
